The seniors citizen requires a lot of attention when it comes to basic care and medical attention. It many cases it is very challenging to properly take care of them. Firstly, there is independent living community. This is a maintenance-free home or apartment. It is meant for both active and independent seniors. The other option is known as continuing care retirement. This is basically an amalgamation of the assisted living, skilled nursing services and independent living. Though services may vary, the most common ones are garden maintenance, laundry, home maintenance, housekeeping and 24-hours security. Seniors in this community also enjoy other services such as swimming, tennis, golf and exercise. There are also other recreational and social activities. Seniors are admitted to nursing homes once a physician makes that recommendation. The seniors are provided with all services that they require including nursing along with medical attention. They are well feed for they take their meals thrice in a day.

Nursing homes are categorized into two groups. These are the skilled nursing facilities and intermediate care facilities. The intermediate care facility provides at least eight or more hours of nursing supervision each day while the skilled nursing facility provides 24-hours nursing supervision. Generally, nursing homes have regulations and they are licensed by the state.

Memory care or Alzheimer is the other available option which can be set up through the assistance of the community or it can be a private facility. They cater for people with memory loss or other kinds of disorders which are related to dementia. Services provided here, assist in improvement of the seniors life quality.

The last option of senior housing New Jersey is hospice care which is designed for those diagnosed with terminal diseases. Hospice care can also be provided in a nursing home or at home. This option covers medical and nursing care, spiritual, therapy, emotional as well as bereavement support.
