By Young Lindsay

The presence of moles within gardens is something you need to act upon fast. Soon you detect there may be moles, do not hesitate but seek for effective ways to get rid of them. Even a single mole can create a lot of damage. One effective way to eliminate these little critters is to use the mole traps. Since you might not be able to see moles easily, you need to monitor their movement.

You may not be able to see these critters easily and although they are active both during the day and at night, you will need to put a lot of effort to find where they inhabit. As they tunnel the ground, they excavate the soils and cause mounds of earth everywhere. Your gardens will not look the same if they happen to inhabit them. They can dig a lot of grounds forming up to 20m of tunnels each day.

Nonetheless, you can be able to trap them when you discover their present inhabit. Moles do not feed on plants. They eat insects and larvae, which are mainly found in soils. They dig the grounds searching for their next meals. As they dig, the expose the roots of plants, tear them, and deprive the plants of nutrients.

The exposed roots are not able to pick nutrients from soils and soon you will have garden plants dieing due to lack of nutrients. Do not use poison baits to kill moles if you have children and pets. Placing these substances in gardens may risk poisoning pets and kids. Children are heavy users of gardens and they will play around.

If there are kids and pets within your premises, you need to avoid using poison bets. There are also repellents that can be applied but they also do not do the trick. The only sure way you can do away with moles is using lethal trapping. Since it is very hard to capture them alive, you need to use those traps that will capture and kill them.

In addition, if you have pets and children, you want to avoid the poison baits. Children will play around gardens and since they can pick anything they find and put in mouth, you may risk poisoning them. Through their hand to mouth activity, children pick anything they find and put in their mouth. If they come across the baits, they may eat put them in mouth thus being poisoned. Pet are also put at risk when bait are placed in soils.

The pets may eat them and die. The only reliable way to safely and successfully do away with moles is by using lethal trapping devices. These devices are meant to capture and kill moles. Do not expect to trap moles alive, as this will be a waste of time. Use the lethal traps to trap and kill moles. This way, you will be sure your gardens are protected and the grass, flowers, and shrubs will not wilt.

If you set your trapping devices in the inactive holes and tunnels, again you will not capture the creatures. First examine the tunnels that they are using and at times, you may have to stay late at night or fit cameras to monitored the grounds. Once you have discovered their present location, now set your traps on the tunnels especially those, which are straight or situated against edges. This way, you will kill the moles and safe your gardens.
